Fundamentals of Meditation Series

C$80.00Price

If you are interested in learning more about meditation, or strengthening the foundations of your practice in a welcoming, friendly environment, this is for you! Join us as we explore meditation, what it is, how it can help us lead more calm and peaceful lives while setting aside some time each week for some much needed self care.

We will meet each week on Wednesday evenings. Each session will be an hour long and you’ll be moving through the series with the same group of people. This group will be kept small to allow for deeper connections. No meditation experience needed!

Each week we’ll explore a new aspect of meditation and have an opportunity to put it into practice. Not only will you be practicing the skills you are learning about, you’ll also be getting all of the relaxation and restorative benefits we’re always talking about meditation offering us! At the end of each session we’ll have some additional Q+A time where you can any questions that may have popped up for you, or get some personalized help with your practice.

After each session, you’ll receive an e-mail with an mp3 download to help you practice the techniques we went over in class, along with some additional resources and information designed to help you deepen your practice in-between sessions. Don’t worry - there won’t be any pop quizzes to see if you did your own practice! ;)

What you can look forward to in this series:

  • Week 1 (March 23) - In the first week of this series we explore what meditation is, a bit of the history behind this beautiful practice and how to integrate meditation into our lives in a way we can keep up with! We’ll be starting with the simple act of using our breath to help us begin corralling our minds, letting go of the busyness of the day and helping us stop ruminating about what has already happened, or what might happen in the future.

  • Week 2 (March 30) - In the second week, we’ll chat about some ways that we can work with our busy minds while still being compassionate with ourselves. This is something everyone struggles with during meditation after all! We’ll also be exploring some new and different ways of connecting to the breath, and introducing the idea of using meditation to let go of tension held in our bodies.

  • Week 3 (April 6) - This week is all about letting go and getting present! By now we’ve built up some strength in our meditation foundations and can begin to use meditation to explore our inner landscape a bit more, helping us to navigate through our emotions in a meaningful way. We’ll also have some time for group reflection and connection during this session.

  • Week 4 (April 13) - In the final week of the series, we’ll be exploring different types of meditation! Now that you have a stronger foundation, you can really begin exploring different styles of meditation to find what resonates with you on any given day. We’ll be wrapping the series up with a mini sound bath experience!

Because we think you're all pretty amazing, we'd like to keep you happy and healthy while meditating in the era of COVID-19. We'll be implementing a few procedures to help us do just that:

• Masks are required when coming into the space, setting up your area, and when you are leaving. Once you are set up on your mat you can remove your mask if you like.

• Groups will be kept small to ensure there is enough room for us to all spread out comfortably in the space
• We ask that everyone please observe social distancing
• We ask that you please use the provided hand sanitizer upon entering the space
• Please remember to bring your own mat (or whatever you would like to sit / lay down on), as we will not be bringing extra mats
• The day before an event we ask that all attendees take a moment to fill out a quick health survey on our website. We'll send you an email with the link to do this the day before.
