Reiki for

Animals

IMG_2204.jpg

Life opens up in so many different ways when the energy inside us has been awakened.

Have you ever wondered if your animals could benefit from the same healing reiki energy that you do? Are you interested in letting your animal be the first to give reiki a try, so you have the opportunity to suss it out before trying it yourself? (If this is you, don’t feel bad, Amanda did the exact same thing!) Or maybe your animal has been getting reiki for years and loves it! No matter what camp you belong to, you’re in the right place!

Kristen and Amanda are first and foremost animal lovers - big or small, feathered or furry, we love them all! We both spend most of our day surrounded by animals of some sort, and really wouldn’t have it any other way! Between us we have 6 horses, 3 dogs, and a cat! Our animals have all dealt with a variety of health issues and physical injuries over the years, and we have found reiki to be an incredible modality for helping them work through these issues and begin to heal. We absolutely love being able to offer reiki for animals!

  What is Reiki?!

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing modality that promotes relaxation and healing in both the physical and emotional body. Reiki is non-invasive and can be performed through either a gentle touch, or from a distance. The ability to perform reiki from a distance is especially beneficial when it comes to working with animals. If they’re a little unsure of a hands-on treatment, restless and feeling the need to move around, unpredictable, or even dangerous, we’re still able to offer them reiki!

In the east, illness is thought to be caused by an imbalance or disturbance in the flow of energy throughout the body. Reiki works by removing these blocks and promoting alignment and balance. Your practitioner will gently place their hands on different points of your animals body - usually in larger energy centres or chakras.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “universal” and Ki which is “life energy”. So Reiki translates to “universal life energy”.

  Reiki for animals!

We specialize in working with horses, but love working on dogs and cats as well! Animals actually understand energy and energy healing much easier than humans do, and they’re able to accept that it’s working without having to understand the why and how. Many of the horses we work with have had a lot of various body work done in the past and can start out a bit hesitant at the beginning of a session, but they warm up quickly once they realize what we’re offering them!

Reiki can be incredibly beneficial for animals dealing with emotional or physical issues that leave owners scratching their heads trying to figure out what’s going on. We have worked with many horses that have had a change in behaviour and attitude without any discernible physical cause, which left owners feeling frustrated and confused about what was going on. In these instances Reiki has been able to help the horse work through these emotions, and deal with any underlying blockages in the body. Reiki will go where it is needed - the body is incredibly intuitive and knows where healing is required.

  When is  it beneficial?

Reiki can be incredibly helpful for dealing with a wide variety of physical and emotional issues animals may experience. Energy healing offers something different than traditional Western treatments and medications, and is typically a great compliment to what you’re already doing.

It is not a magical cure-all, but it is an incredible modality for helping your animal’s body to begin healing itself! Our animals are capable of incredible things, and given the opportunity to heal, their bodies will jump at the chance! It’s incredible how chronic pain, acute pain from injury, and long held emotional issues can quickly change after a reiki session.

Since Reiki works through this positive energy, there is never any concern about Reiki causing or doing any harm. Reiki allows the receiver to clear any blockages and begin healing only what they are ready to heal at that moment in time. There are no contraindications for a reiki session.

Reiki can have many benefits, including:

  • Promoting harmony and balance within the body

  • Creating deep relaxation and allowing the body to release stress and tension

  • Accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal

  • Helps to relieve pain and discomfort

  • Assists in dealing with emotional issues

Human - Animal Connection

We find so often that people are incredibly connected with their pets, and will often mirror one another with regards to the physical and emotional issues they’re struggling with. This mirroring can go both ways, with each side taking on problems that weren’t originally theirs! It is because of this connection that we find it to be incredibly helpful for the owner to receive reiki as well as their animal. This way you’ll both be in better alignment and won’t continue passing issues back and forth!

If you are interested in a session with your pet - you’re in luck! Because there’s two of us, you and your animal can both enjoy reiki sessions at the same time. We find this to be really powerful! Because both of you will be in a calm and relaxed state - you’ll both find it easier to relax even further and allow the reiki to flow freely.
